Meeting Minutes – MAY 28, 2014


NEXT MEETING: JUNE 25, 2014
PLEASE NOTE THE CPC MEETINGS ARE NOW HELD ON THE 4TH WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH.

CPC Meeting began at 7:05pm

Members Present:  Laura FitzGerald-Kemmett, Bob Sears, Allan Clemons, Kenny Mitchell, John Kemmett, Patty Norton, Bob Overholtzer and Tom Hickey

Absent:  Joe Gamache

Guests:  Phil Clemons, Michelle and Larry Mills

Approval of Previous meeting Minutes:
Approval granted for April 2014 minutes – John Kemmett (1st), Patty Norton (2nd); (6-0-2) Bob Overholtzer and Tom Hickey abstaining.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:  

Finances:
No update for April’s meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

First Congregational Church in Hanson – Pre-Application – Robert Cox
Committee is waiting the submission of a formal CPC application from First congregational Church.

Robinson Field Proposal by Mr. O'Brien
No update to report at this time.

Town Forest/Outdoor Recreation Area
No update to report at this time.

High School Project – Kenny Mitchell/Mr. Rogers
Bob Rogers sent a plan for a basketball court to Merry with cost estimates for review.

Camp Kiwanee-North End Cabin Repair and Restoration Pre-Application – Jim Flanagan
Committee is waiting the submission of a formal CPC application from Jim Flanagan.


OLD BUSINESS:

Bonney House update:   
Allan reported that the beam work will start on July 14th and the lead paint work will start in the fall.

Poor Meadow Brook/Stone Property:
Phil Clemons gave an update to the status of Stone Property – the deed was registered and deal completed. Many thanks and accolade’s to Phil for all the hard work and long hours put into this project.

Thomas Mill Sign:  
John reported that prefunding of the sign costs is needed; needs further discussion and approval.



MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Tom Hickey, Superintendent to South Shore Vocational Technical School was introduced as the newest CPC committee members ~ welcome Tom!
  • Michelle and Larry Mills from the Historical Commission visited the CPC meeting and a healthy discussion on various projects both committees are working on was talked about and in particular the “White Book Historic Markers”.  This was a historical commission project when funding was limited and it was stopped.  CPC to receive the book for review.  Michelle and Larry will go back to the committee to see what priorities they consider their projects are and get back to CPC if any assistance is needed.  Laura FitzGerald Kemmett also gave a presentation on CPC.
  • Laura to go to the next scheduled Recreation Committee meeting in June; she encouraged other committee members to go as well.
  • Bob Sears gave an update to the Housing meeting he went to at the Bridgewater Senior Center on May 1st.  Impressive showing and thoughts are being considered about a Housing Coordinator position being open for five communities to share:  Pembroke, W. Bridgewater, Wareham, Hanson and Plympton/Middleboro.  No final decision was made on this suggestion.

RE-ORGANIZATION:
  • A motion was made to move to keep Laura FitzGerald Kemmett as the Chairperson for CPC 2014/2015.  Patty Norton (1st), Kenny Mitchell (2nd); 7-0-1 approved (Laura abstaining).
